WIR Services Limited provides corporate services to a number of companies in the industrial construction, turnaround and maintenance markets across Western Canada.
We are actively seeking to fill a few Site Superintendent positions for the CNRL 2023 Spring Outage starting in January 2023 for a potential duration of 4 months. It is scheduled to be a rotation of 4 days on and 3 days off working 10-hour days for pre & post-work and moving to 24 days on and 4 days off working 12-hour days during the outage. Charter flights from Calgary or Edmonton and camp accommodations will be provided.
Position Summary
The Site Superintendent is responsible to assist in leading and developing Turnaround Strategy within a specific trade or multiple trades on a project including; planning, organizing, directing, and controlling various aspects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.
Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Manage and provide leadership for health, safety, environment, and quality programs and policies
- Assist Turnaround Manager in the planning of assigned projects
- Planning and scheduling of work activities
- Executes plan and evaluates schedules and site personnel to ensure project objectives are met
- Provides leadership to Craft Supervision and prioritizes work accordingly
- Works with and support site safety and quality control personnel
- Supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff
- Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships
- Monitor job costing, reporting, forecasting, and productivity
- Oversee field administration: timesheets, project reports, and material purchases
- Review work/contracts for areas of risk and correct deficiencies
- Read and interpret JDE reports, such as job cost, labour, projection sheets, and PO entries
- Ensure productivity and profitability
- Provide scheduling progress and progress reports to management
- Ability to drive a vehicle for work related purposes
Qualifications & Training
- Trade Certificate (Boilermaker/Pipefitter)
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- 8+ years of field experience in the Industrial Construction industry
- 3+ years’ experience leading union employees in the field
- Shutdown/Turnaround experience
- Contract management
- Risk management
- Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
- Advanced site safety supervision
- Ability to read drawings and project/structural design interpretation
- Building materials and systems
- Dispute resolution and negotiation skills
- Established Shutdown/Turnaround practices, procedures, and techniques
- Applicable local and provincial labour codes
- Managing / leading union and nonunion staff
- Organization and time management
- Proficient user of: MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
- Willing and able to work on a rotational work schedule, which includes fly-in & fly-out to site from Calgary or Edmonton
- Ability to drive a vehicle for work related purposes
- Valid class 5 drivers’ license (with clean 3-year abstract)
- Pre-access A&D clearance requirement
- Required valid certificates for project; CSTS-09 or CSO, Confined Space, Fall Protection & Fit Testing (1/2 & full)
